Inclusion Co-ordinator Mentoring Support

Students who have an EHCP, a medical diagnosis, or who feel they may have a learning difference can meet with one of our Inclusion Coordinators for mentoring support.

The level of support each student receives is fully personalised. During an initial meeting, we will work together to identify strengths, challenges, and the areas where developing helpful study strategies would be most beneficial. Support is usually offered through 1:1 coaching sessions, on a weekly or biweekly basis, and smallgroup workshops may also be available where relevant.

Inclusion Coordinators work closely with college staff—class teachers, PTs, and LTs—to identify reasonable adjustments that can help reduce barriers to learning and enable students to thrive at college. We may also carry out lesson observations or request staff feedback to determine whether additional provision would be helpful. When appropriate, we will liaise with parents/carers to ensure that strategies and targets are supported both in college and at home.

Sessions may focus on areas such as:

  • Transition support from secondary school
  • Orientation and settling into college
  • Organisation and timemanagement
  • Navigating college systems and expectations
  • Effective revision and exampreparation strategies
  • Notetaking and essaywriting skills
  • Active reading strategies
  • Regular checkins to support emotional regulation

Our work is reinforced by our Study Skills Sharepoint which directs students to a wide range of resources to help them study better.
