We strongly encourage all applicants to disclose any exam access arrangements on their application form, even if these have not been formalised yet and are being investigated, as information about these will not automatically be transferred onto us. This will enable our team to review any rollover applications and make sure the correct arrangements are in place as soon as students start college.
If at any point, students (or their parents/carers) feel that they may be in need of exam access arrangements, they can speak to one of their subject teachers who will make a referral on their behalf.
A member of the Learning Support team will first arrange an initial meeting to discuss what areas they are finding difficult with regards to assessments. Feedback will then be gathered from their teachers to help build an accurate picture of need. It is essential to note that, without a strong picture of need in college, it may not be possible for us to put exam access arrangements in place, even if students have medical diagnosis.
If a picture of need supports the student’s described difficulties, they will be put on our waiting list to meet our Exam Access Arrangements Coordinator who will complete the necessary checks and assessments needed.
As per JCQ rules and regulations, some Exam Access Arrangements applications cannot be made passed a certain deadline. It is therefore essential to ensure any information with regards to exam access arrangements is shared as soon as possible to give our team enough time to gather the evidence needed and for students to make it their normal ways of working.
Alongside this, students will be offered the opportunity to meet with their allocated Inclusion Coordinator should they wish to focus on a specific study skills area.
