Parents/Carers

At KE we believe it is vital to foster links with parents/carers who are a vital element in helping students succeed in their next steps.
Please take a look below at the support on offer via the KE Careers team.

Careers Advice & Guidance

At KE, our Careers Team offers one‑to‑one guidance appointments to support students with:

  • Exploring university options and course choices
  • Researching apprenticeships and alternative pathways
  • Discussing career ideas and future planning

Appointments are personalised, supportive and designed to help students at any stage of their thinking. Students can book a session here or email careers@kedst.ac.uk.

We also run regular careers drop‑in sessions for quick advice and guidance.

We encourage parents to talk with their child about accessing careers support, helping them feel supported, informed and confident about their future.

Work Experience – Important for Parents and Carers

Work experience plays a vital role in helping our students prepare for their next steps beyond college. Whether your young person is considering university, an apprenticeship, or employment, work experience helps them build confidence, develop key employability skills, and strengthen future applications. Even a short placement can have a significant impact by helping students explore their interests, identify transferable skills, and make informed decisions about their future.

As a college, we strongly encourage all Year 12 students to complete a work experience placement by the end of the academic year. This ensures they gain valuable insight before making important progression choices in Year 13. More info can be found here.

Unifrog

Unifrog is a universal destinations platform that helps students to investigate their options post-college. All year 12 students register onto the Unifrog software, and a parental login is also available. This allows parents/carers access to the Unifrog software so that they too can utilise it to support their child. Email careers@kedst.ac.uk if you need help accessing Unifrog.
