Students at King Edward VI College are celebrating outstanding success after achieving a remarkable set of awards in this year’s British Physics Olympiad (BPhO) and British Astronomy and Astrophysics Olympiad (BAAO).
The competitions—renowned for being among the most challenging physics and astronomy assessments for pre-university students in the UK—saw four of our learners receive national recognition for their exceptional performances.
Sam achieved an extraordinary double triumph, earning Top Gold in both BPhO Round 1 and BAAO Round 1, placing him among the highest-performing physics and astrophysics students in the country.
Josh also impressed with a Gold award in BPhO Round 1 and a Bronze I award in BAAO Round 1, demonstrating remarkable breadth and strength across both disciplines.
In the astronomy competition, Oli secured a Bronze II award in BAAO Round 1, while Kaiser achieved a Bronze I award in BPhO Round 1, adding to the college’s tally of strong results.
In addition, Afshin received a commendation in the BPhO, recognising his promising performance, although he was unable to join the group photograph.
