KE50: Celebrating 50 Years as a Sixth Form College
On Saturday 26 September 2026, King Edward VI College welcomed former students, staff, families and friends back to Stourbridge to celebrate 50 years since becoming a sixth form college.
The day brought together generations of the King Ed’s community, beginning with an Alumni Football Match before hundreds of visitors returned to the College’s Lower High Street campus for an afternoon of exhibitions, tours, panel discussions, live entertainment and the opportunity to reconnect with old friends and former colleagues.
A special highlight of the day was the burial of the KE50 Time Capsule, creating a snapshot of King Ed’s in 2026 for future generations. Visitors were also able to see the newly unveiled KE50 artwork by alumna Stacy Hammond, celebrating the people, places and stories that have shaped the College over the last five decades.
The celebrations concluded with a spectacular Anniversary Concert at Stourbridge Town Hall, bringing together current students, alumni and staff musicians in a memorable performance that showcased the enduring talent and community spirit of King Ed’s.
Thank you to everyone who attended, performed, volunteered, organised and supported our KE50 celebrations. It was a wonderful opportunity to reflect on our history, celebrate our community and look ahead to the future.

50th Anniversary Celebration Concert:
King Edward VI College’s 50th Anniversary Concert was a wonderful celebration of the college’s rich musical heritage, bringing together current and former students, staff, families and friends for a memorable evening of music.
The programme featured performances of Brahms’ Academic Festival Overture, Strauss’ Metamorphosen and Vivaldi’s Gloria, showcasing the talent and dedication of our student musicians. The concert reflected both the proud history of music at King Edward’s and the vibrant musical culture that continues to thrive today, making it a fitting way to mark this significant milestone in the college’s history.
