During the first week of February, 40 students from Spanish, French, Philosophy, Fine Art and Aspire enjoyed an unforgettable three‑day cultural adventure in Madrid.

Across an impressive 70,000 steps, students explored some of the world’s most significant artistic treasures, encountering masterpieces by Picasso, Goya, El Greco and Velázquez in the city’s renowned galleries. The group also took part in a guided walking tour, offering insights into Madrid’s rich history, before visiting the iconic Santiago Bernabéu Stadium.

Food was a highlight throughout the trip, with students choosing their own meals in local restaurants. Many embraced the opportunity to order in Spanish, trying regional favourites such as chocolate con churros and the famous bocadillo de calamares (squid sandwich).

There was plenty of time to enjoy Madrid’s vibrant atmosphere, including free time for shopping and a relaxing afternoon in the beautiful Retiro Park.

The city’s striking architecture made a lasting impression too, from the Baroque doorway of the History Museum to the neoclassical Puerta de Alcalá, the grand Palacio de Cibeles, the impressive Bank of Spain, and Madrid’s stunning Royal Palace and Cathedral.

The trip provided a rich blend of culture, language, art and independence—an inspiring experience that brought classroom learning vividly to life.
